Ant Group has introduced a new generation AI system called “Lingguang AI” that can generate a working mini‑application in about 30 seconds from a natural language description. The system understands text, images and camera input, and automatically creates the interface, logic and basic interactions without any coding.

Unlike traditional template‑based app builders, Lingguang AI uses large models to infer user intent and then dynamically assembles functions and layouts. This effectively turns a mobile phone into an instant “software creation platform”, removing the need to install development tools or learn programming syntax.

Early users in Mainland China report that they can finally turn long‑held ideas into functioning tools without a programming background. Observers expect this kind of tool to accelerate the growth of highly personalised and niche applications, as more people experiment with their own solutions.

In an interview with HK01, AiX Society founding president Michael C.S. So commented that the biggest significance of Lingguang AI is that creativity is no longer constrained by technical skills. People from all walks of life—including frontline staff, students, retail workers, insurance agents and even seniors—can describe a need and quickly build a prototype, multiplying the number of small tools in the ecosystem.

At the same time, he emphasised that software engineers will “absolutely not” be replaced. As the number of user‑created tools explodes, system integration, data flows, performance and enterprise‑grade reliability will all become more demanding, which increases the importance of professional engineering roles. Future work for engineers will include supervising AI‑generated code, refining system architecture and ensuring stability and security at scale.

Looking ahead, Michael expects new types of software roles to emerge, such as “AI generation supervisors”, “model gap‑filling engineers” and “enterprise integration architects”. As natural‑language app generation matures, more individuals will be able to transform everyday scenarios, work processes and personal interests into practical software. Creation will shift from the capability of a small group of specialists to an activity that is accessible to everyone.hk01
